1/27/2004 - Orlando International Airport Ranks Number One in Customer Service

ORLANDO, FL Orlando International Airport has been ranked the number one airport in North America by Airport Revenue News (ARN) Magazine. The airport ranked first place winner for Airport with the Best Customer Service Airport-wide in the large-airports category in the prestigious, annual Best Concessions Poll.

The ARN Best Concessions awards are the airport concessions industry’s most coveted because winning one affirms the highest standards of excellence. "Providing world-class customer service has always ranked high on our priorities list." Commented C.W. Jennings, Executive Director for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. "We are very proud of this accolade, because as a gateway to the Central Florida community we want to ensure a memorable first experience."

"The airports nominated for this criteria were those whose quality customer service is obvious throughout the facility via friendly employees, signage, information services and ambassador programs," said Pauline Ambrust, publisher of ARN.

A panel of industry experts, a different group each year, votes on the stores, restaurants, and airport programs that have been nominated in an earlier process. The nominees were selected due to their noticeably high standards of excellence in a variety of categories. Some of the comments noted by the 10-judge concessionaires panel include: 

Orlando International Airport (MCO) continues to rank among the top airports for world-class customer service. This is the most recent recognition received by Orlando International Airport. In 2002, MCO ranked among the top three airports in the world in the J.D. Power and Associates 2002 Global Airport Satisfaction Study in the medium sized airport category (10-30 million passengers per year).

In 2001 Orlando International Airport finished highest in overall passenger satisfaction in the large-airport category (30 million or more passengers per year), for the second year in a row, in the J.D. Power and Associates 2001 Syndicated North American Airport Passenger Satisfaction Study. MCO has also received high rankings from Consumer Reports Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.

Airport Revenue News is the airport industry’s leading trade magazine covering revenue issues. The monthly magazine is published out of West Palm Beach, Florida.
