9/24/2004 - Double Digit Growth Continues at Orlando International Airport

ORLANDO, FL – For the fifth consecutive month record-breaking traffic was reported at Orlando International Airport. Passenger traffic set a record for July with 2,865,463 total passengers traveling through the airport. The previous record for July was set in 2000 with 2,753,409 passengers. Total passenger traffic at Orlando International Airport increased 14.60 percent in July compared to the same month last year, indicating that 365,097 more passengers used the airport during this period. July is the seventh consecutive month of double-digit traffic increases at Orlando International Airport.

Domestic traffic increased 14.21 percent to 2,670,921 also setting a new record for the month of July, while international traffic increased 20.23 percent to 194,542 over the same period last year.

Noteworthy changes in scheduled service were reported by several airlines in domestic markets. Ted increased service to Chicago by adding 12 flights weekly for a total of 49; while AirTran Airways increased service to Baltimore by adding 7 flights weekly for a total of 28; and Continental Airlines added service to Houston for a total of 38 flights weekly.

July aircraft operations at Orlando International Airport consisted of 27,097 arrivals and departures an increase of 7.57 percent.

For the past twelve months ending July 31, 2004, passengers who used Orlando International Airport totaled 30,179,453.
