8/10/2005 - June Passenger Traffic Numbers Increase at Orlando International Airport

ORLANDO, FL.   Passenger traffic numbers increased at Orlando International Airport in June. Overall traffic was up 8.3 percent to 2.9 million (2,925,897) passengers for the month compared to June 2004.

A good portion of our June numbers can be traced to an increase in international tourists. In June we processed nearly 200,000 (197,544) travelers from countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico and Canada. That number represents a 20% increase in international traffic over this time last year.

These encouraging numbers also inspire us to continue looking for efficient and innovative ways to process more passengers through our facilities, says C.W. Bill Jennings, Executive Director for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

Cargo traffic at Orlando International dipped slightly, down six percent, while aircraft operations at Orlando Executive Airport also declined in June, down nearly eight (7.99) percent for the month.

At the half way point of 2005, Orlando International Airport has processed over 17.7 million passengers. That represents a 10.25% increase over the same period in 2004. Last year, Orlando International Airport became the busiest airport in Florida with 31.1 million passengers. Orlando International was recently ranked the number one airport in North America for customer service and number two in the world according to J.D. Power and Associates.
