A quick look at what’s making news at Florida’s busiest airport
ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL RECEIVES SEVERAL AWARDS:
Orlando International Airport (MCO) has been recognized with three prestigious awards from both inside and outside the aviation industry. The awards recognize the airport in areas ranging from food and retail, design and comfort, access and quality of location and cleanliness of bathrooms.
- Trip Advisor.com, one of the world’s largest online travel sites, named Orlando International as a “Golden Gate” winner for being one of the Top Airports in the World.
- Conde Nast Traveler Magazine surveyed its business travelers and has ranked MCO as one of the top five Business Airports in the nation.
- Florida Monthly Magazine has ranked Orlando International, for the fourth year in a row, as the Best Airport in the state of Florida.
TAM AIRLINES GETS GREEN LIGHT TO BEGIN OPERATIONS AT ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL:
TAM Airlines, the largest airline in the South America, has received approval from ANAC, the Brazilian equivalent of our Department of Transportation, to begin daily operations at Orlando International Airport. Service starts November 21st with a route from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Orlando.
FARES REMAIN COMPETETIVE AT ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL:
The recent industry service cutbacks and increases in ticket fares have been widely reported but what isn’t widely known is that despite the increased fares nationwide, Orlando International has experienced only a one percent increase in the average price of a ticket according to industry analyst Bob Harrell of Harrell Associates.
NEW RELAXATION AND SHOPPING OPTIONS OPEN FOR BUSINESS:
Passengers traveling on JetBlue or Southwest Airlines on airside two, gates 100-129, have a new opportunity to relax and unwind. XpressSpa is open and offers five different types of massages, waxing, skin care, nail care and even a gentleman’s facial. Also open for business on the “B” side of the main terminal building is Apparel Design by Soulmates. The new store specializes in creative and lavishly designed personalized t-shirts, belts, jackets, purses and hats decorated with crystals and rhinestones.
