10/15/2010 - Steady Growth in August at Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, FL.- The positive movement in passenger traffic at Orlando International Airport (MCO) continued in August. For the month, the number of travelers increased by more than 2.5 percent over year ago levels.
“While we’re pleased with steady growth and the trends that are moving in a positive direction, we are still conservatively optimistic that the numbers for this fiscal year, ending September 30th, will show an increase in passenger traffic”, says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
The August traffic figures reflect increases in domestic and international travel numbers.
Statistical Data for August 2010:
- Domestic travel numbers increased 1.90 percent
- The amount of international travelers rose 8.85 percent
- Overall traffic climbed 2.55 percent in August
- Year-to-date traffic at MCO is up 1.86 percent over 2009 figures
- Total number of passengers at MCO in August were 2,991,999
With the addition of Virgin America service to Los Angeles and San Francisco, Orlando International wins the Anna Aero Magazine award for “Airport with the Most New Service”. MCO had the biggest net gain in destinations with service to 14 new markets this year.
