6/13/2012 - April Traffic Steady at Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, FL. - Compared to last year at this time, passenger traffic at Orlando International Airport (MCO) was relatively flat with an overall increase of .16 percent for the month of April. The slight gain can be directly attributed to international traffic which registered an 8.2 percent increase. This continued solid international news comes just as Visit Orlando released record tourism traffic figures for the region of 55 million visitors in the past year.
"As a gateway for air travelers representing 22.5 percent or 12.4 million of the 55 million visitors to the region, Orlando International Airport continues working with our community partners to support the value of an exceptional travel experience for all of our international and domestic guests," says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
April 2012 Statistics:
- International traffic increased 8.22 percent at MCO
- Domestic traffic decreased . 78 percent for the month
- Overall traffic increased .16 percent in April
- Nearly 3.2 million passengers moved through MCO in April 3,186,849
Orlando International Airport already has more non-stop domestic service than any other airport in Florida and recently Alaska Airlines announced new non-stop service, five days-a-week to San Diego, California beginning October 11 th, 2012.
