9/21/2012 - Hundreds of Small Business Owners Learn How To Do Business With The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA)


ORLANDO, FL. – At the 8th Annual How to do Business with GOAA event held at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport this morning, hundreds of local small, minority and women business owners heard firsthand what it takes to competitively compete and bid for contracts with the Authority. Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Executive Director, Phil Brown welcomed the business community while stressing, “The Authority is a strong supporter of programs that encourage the inclusion of women and minorities. Our small business team, construction and other departments are ready and able to assist as we prepare to launch a major capital program here at the airport.” Attendees were given a variety of information ranging from legal and security requirements to construction processes at the airport.

The Authority’s Director of Small Business Development, Michelle Tatom presented awards to several companies currently doing business with the Authority for their efforts to grow and meet minority and women participation goals for contracts with GOAA. Firms recognized were Riccy’s Landscaping; The Gem Collection; RL Burns, Inc.; Capri Contractors; Global Conveyor; Pancho’s Spanish Deli & Bakery; Hospital Shared Services (HSS); ISS Facility Services and Rhodes & Brito Architects.

Orlando International Airport has been recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration with its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Partner and Advocate Award for assisting small businesses.
