ORLANDO, FL. – It’s been over 40 years but Orlando/American aviation hero Colonel Joe Kittinger has been reunited with one of the F-4 Phantom jets that he flew during the Vietnam War era. The plane was located in Texas and shipped to Orlando on the back of a trailer to become the centerpiece of Colonel Joe Kittinger Park at Orlando Executive Airport (OEA).

Beaming with pride, the former fighter pilot and prisoner of war greeted the plane as it arrived in many parts and rolled into OEA where it will undergo a total restoration, including being painted in its original camouflage colors, before being permanently displayed. A private fundraising effort is underway to cover all associated costs.
